Modifying images for your website
It is often necessary when working on your website to crop, resize or modify an image that you intend to place on your website. There are many reasons you may need to do this. The image may be too large, or you only want to show a certain part of it. Images on the web also need to be beneath a certain file size, so optimising the image for the web is a task you may also need to perform.
The industry standard image modification program that is used in web design and development is Adobe Photoshop. The tutorials in this section of the Magicdust Knowledgebase will deal with performing tasks in Photoshop. However, Photoshop is an expensive piece of software. For this reason we can also recommend a free program, paint.net, which is available at http://getpaint.net. However at this stage we do not provide tutorials for paint.net.
