eWeb - Copying and pasting text

A common question is whether it is possible to copy text from software such as Microsoft Word into your eweb. The short answer is yes, you can, but it does not always have the desired results.

Microsoft Word often contains hidden code that is not read properly by your internet browser. Therefore the formatting that you apply in Microsoft Word may not apply or may look very different when you paste it into the eweb.

A way around this is to avoid formatting the document in Microsoft Word as much as possible. Before copying from Microsoft Word into your eweb, copy it into a blank notepad file. Notepad can be found by going to Start -> Programs -> Accessories on a Windows machine. Notepad will strip out any hidden code that Microsoft Word may have added. Then, when you paste into your eweb, you will be pasting only the blank text. You can then use the eweb's formatting tools to apply appropriate text styles, add images, tables and so on.
